ICPC recovers N450 billion in three years: Report

The ICPC report also states that a total of N2.865 billion worth of other assets was recovered through its CEPTi projects.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) says it “recovered, forfeited and restrained” assets valued at N450.997 billion from corrupt persons in the last three years.

This was revealed in an infographic report posted by the commission via its verified Twitter handle, Monday.

Out of the N450.997 billion recovered, the anti-graft agency said a total of N91.012 billion in assets was recovered from persons accused of corruption in 2022 alone.

The index states that between 2019 and 2022, the Commission recovered nearly N8.823 billion in cash through final forfeitures and N1.525 billion through other accounts.

The report additionally showed that the ICPC restrained a total of N111.50 million through final forfeiture orders and N20.84 million in rent from confiscated assets was recovered.

On constituency tracking, the report also indicates that N45.280 billion worth of assets on completed projects was recovered “after contractors were forced back to the site “through its Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Initiative (CEPTi).

The ICPC report also states that a total of N2.865 billion worth of other assets was recovered through its CEPTi projects.

The zonal intervention project, popularly known as constituency projects, have been enmeshed in corruption in recent years.

Members of the National Assembly majorly sponsor the N100 billion per year allocated to constituency projects in their various constituencies.

The commission said it restrained about N26.573 billion in cash through its budget tracking project.

On investigations and convictions, ICPC said it completed and concluded a total of 4,705 investigations between 2019 and 2022, while it filed 309 cases in court, of which it has secured 85 convictions in the three periods.

According to the index, the commission tracked a total of 3,422 projects under the CEPTI initiative.
