The Inspector-General of Police (IG), Olatunji Disu, has celebrated fathers across Nigeria for their contributions to society.

Mr Disu’s message is contained in a statement on Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu.

The IG felicitated fathers during the 2026 Father’s Day celebration, recognising their sacrifices and leadership.

He praised fathers for raising responsible citizens and strengthening the moral foundations of a peaceful society.

Mr Disu acknowledged their roles in promoting discipline, integrity, hard work, and patriotism among children.

According to him, fathers’ daily sacrifices continue to strengthen families and contribute to national development.

He said fathers provide guidance, protection, and support, which help build a stronger social fabric.

The police boss also commended officers who serve the nation while remaining committed fathers and family leaders.

He said, “I commend the sacrifices made by officers who often spend long hours away from home.’’

Mr Disu noted that such officers remain dedicated to their responsibilities as parents and role models.

He wished all fathers “good health, strength, wisdom, and fulfilment” during the celebration.

The IG urged Nigerians to appreciate fathers’ commitment and enduring influence on national progress.

He assured citizens that the Nigeria Police Force would continue protecting life and property.

Mr Disu added that the force would strengthen community partnerships and support family-focused initiatives.

He said such efforts would promote social cohesion, family values, and a safer Nigeria.
