The inspector general of police, Usman Baba, has approved new police commissioners for three states and five formations to enhance operational and administrative effectiveness.

A statement by the police spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Thursday said the deployments were in line with the police’s manpower development policy.

The new commissioners are Mamman Dauda, Kano, Etim Effiom, Gombe, Aminu Alhassan, Bauchi, Babatunde Ishola, CPTU Staff College, Jos, and Mamman Sanda, X-Squad, FCID Annex, Lagos. Others include John Babangida, FCID Annex Gombe, Akinwale Adeniran, Safer Highway, Force Headquarters, Abuja and Abubakar Lawal, DFA, FCID Annex, Lagos.

The statement disclosed that the regular postings of the senior police officers were to align with the force’s policy on strategic human capacity deployment.

It added that the idea was to help further drive the inspector general’s policing vision targeted at improving policing services across the country.

The police said information making the rounds that the former commissioner of police in charge of Kano, Abubakar Lawal, was redeployed on the grounds of corruption was false, unfounded and misleading.
