IGP Usman Baba decries increasing attacks on police officers
Inspector-General of Police Usman Baba has decried the increasing attacks on police officers in different locations across the country.
Police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement on Monday in Abuja said Mr Baba condemned the trend of assault on police officers in uniform while on duty.
He warned that attacks on police officers in the line of duty would no longer be tolerated under whatever guise, as the force holds the lives of its personnel sacrosanct.
Mr Baba directed police commands and formations to ensure that individuals who assault police officers, irrespective of preceding factors, were made to face the law.
The IGP was said to have also called on the public to respect the fundamental rights of police officers and other security operatives.
“The call was to enable the officers to advance their sacred mandate of protection of lives and property and maintenance of law and order.”
