Ikorodu LG chairman restates commitment to infrastructural development

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Wasiu Adesina, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development and leaving a lasting legacy of advanced governance in the area.
Mr Adesina stated this during the budget stakeholder consultative forum themed “Budget of consolidation” at the council secretariat in Ikorodu, Lagos.
He emphasised that his administration would invest heavily in infrastructural development, ensuring inclusive governance that reflected transparency, accountability, and community collective vision.
He stated, “We converge here to deliberate on a budget that will shape the aspirations of Ikorodu LG for 2025. As my tenure is winding up, I am deeply committed to leaving a legacy of advanced governance and our community’s collective vision.’’
The chairman highlighted some of his achievements in 2024 to include completion of more than 14 roads and drainage and rehabilitation of inner roads.
He said, “The Agura Primary Health Care centres were renovated and reequipped.”
He also said his administration engaged in periodic distribution of relief packages, including food items and filling gas cylinders.
He added his administration partnered public-private initiatives to empower youths through international agricultural training in the United Kingdom and digital skills training.
Stakeholders expressed gratitude to the chairman for his efforts and provision of impactful projects across the community.
Various leaders and representatives made requests and suggestions, including Bukola Isikalu, Iyaloja General of Ikorodu, Bukola Isikalu and appealed for soft loans for market women and men.
The Coordinator, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ikorodu branch, Basit Ogunsami, urged the chairman to establish a skill acquisition centre for youth empowerment.
In his contribution, the APC party leader, Shamsudeen Longe, advised the council to make provision for solar power and deploy security agents across primary schools in the council area.
Reacting, the chairman promised to note the requests and ensured completion before the end of his tenure.
He also announced plans to provide chairs and benches to four deserving primary schools and lay the foundation for entertainment and cultural centres to preserve the community’s cultural heritage.
