I’ll vie for Senate to restore Kano Central’s lost glory: APC Chieftain

Abdulsalam Abdulkarim-Zaura, an APC chieftain, says he will contest the Kano Central senatorial election in 2027 to restore its lost glory.
He said this while declaring his ambition to run for the Senate on Monday in Kano.
Mr Abdulkarim-Zaura stated that the district suffered poor representation over the years and offered himself to bring about positive change and end social vices, drug abuse and thuggery bedevilling the area.
“I formally declare my intention to seek the mandate to serve the people of Kano Central in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the platform of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections,” he said.
Mr Abdulkarim-Zaura said that his aspiration was not just another political declaration but rather a bold call to restore purposeful representation.
He promised to return Kano Central to its rightful place at the centre of national relevance, economic opportunities, and effective representation, through sound legislation to expand access to quality education, invest in modern skills, digital technology, innovation hubs, and vocational excellence.
The senatorial hopeful said the measure aimed at providing the youth with opportunities to compete globally and thrive locally.
“We will facilitate federal support for critical infrastructure, roads, housing (especially for vulnerable families), and rural development. We will also drive legislation that boosts agriculture, enhances food security, addresses issues of nutrition and strengthens the backbone of our local economy,” he said.
According to Mr Abdulkarim-Zaura, security is fundamental in making communities safe and productive.
