Imo APC faction begin fresh membership registration

Factional chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Imo, Daniel Nwafor, has commenced fresh membership registration in the state.
Addressing members of his executive (EXCO) in Owerri on Thursday, he said that the National Working Committee of APC had recognised him as the authentic state chairman.
Mr Nwafor, who pledged his loyalty to Governor Hope Uzodimma, said that he was ready to work with him for the good of the party.
He said that his exco would critically look into the primary election conducted by the Macdonald Ebere-led faction of the party.
According to him, a lot of calls, messages and questions are arising from my recognition, asking what next.
“What is next is that we will continue to function as the exco of the party in the state.
“We do not have any business trying to be divisive.
“We are not in APC leadership to cause divide and rule or enmity with anybody.
“In politics, we must show tolerance and exceptional maturity to accommodate everyone that comes to us.
“We recognise the governor as the leader of the party in the state,” Mr Nwafor said.
He urged those who did not register as members before December 2018, but willing to to do so, to feel free to come forward.
He urged members of the EXCO to show commitment in ensuring victory for all the party candidates in the 2023 general elections.
Reacting to the development, the state Publicity Secretary under the leadership of Macdonald Ebere, Cajetan Duke, described Mr Nwafor’s claim and moves as “dead on arrival”.
Mr Duke described the claim as fake, arguing that it did not emanate from the national leadership of the party.
