Imo youths should avoid using hard drugs while celebrating Xmas: Gov Uzodimma

The Imo government has urged its youths to avoid abusing drugs and other substances while celebrating Christmas.
The advice was given in a statement by Governor Hope Uzodimma’s special adviser on narcotics and illicit drugs monitoring, Ezechukwu Obonna in Owerri on Wednesday.
Mr Obonna urged Imo youths and Imo residents to prioritise the health, safety and well-being of those around them. He said the youths should stay away from illicit drugs and avoid situations that might lead to substance abuse.
He added that drug abuse and trafficking posed significant threats to individuals, families and communities.
He advised Imo residents to focus on spending quality time with loved ones, practising self-care and self-love, engaging in drug-free activities and reflecting on their goals and aspirations.
“Let’s spread love, kindness and awareness against illicit drug use and trafficking instead. Together, let’s build a safer, healthier and more compassionate world.
“Remember, a healthy and happy you are the best gift to yourself and those around you, so stay safe, sober and have a wonderful Christmas,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Uzodimma has urged Christians to embrace the message of peace and goodwill that Jesus Christ’s birth signified. Mr Uzodimma made the call in his Christmas message on Wednesday.
