India’s head of foreign affairs lauds Modi’s stellar performance in office

Dr Vijay Chauthaiwale, head of department of foreign affairs, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has commended Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for his laudable achievements since 10 years in office.
Mr Chauthaiwale, in a statement on Saturday, said that as the Prime Minister goes ahead for the third term re-election, he deserves to be considered for another mandate.
Mr Modi has served as the 14th Prime Minister of India since May 2014.
He commended two of Mr Modi’s first-term policies on demonetisation and implementation of the Goods and Service Tax (GST).
He said that the policy on demonetisation caused a lot of disruption initially but later won the support of the poor as they believed in Mr Modi’s war against black money and corruption.
He noted that while GST implementation was disruptive for businesses, transiently slowed down the economy and ran into teething troubles, the new tax regime made the Indian economy efficient and modern.
“In both instances, the prime minister did not hesitate to put his political capital on the line because he felt the decisions were needed.
“Modi’s strength is his direct communication with people, explaining the rationale behind major decisions, and the humility with which he asks people to tolerate short-term pain, especially in case of demonetisation and lockdown during COVID-19.
“He converted a crisis relating to the non-availability of cash into an opportunity by launching the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and encouraging people to use digital payments.
“Today, UPI is viewed globally as a transformative technology for its ease and security.
“India’s emergence from the COVID-19 crisis has much to do with Mr Modi’s ability to impose a national lockdown and then keep public morale up by leading by example,” he said.
According to Mr Chauthaiwale, there is significant capacity-building in India’s healthcare infrastructure and success in the manufacture and supply of critical medicines and vaccines.
He said India’s achieving 200 core vaccinations was irrefutable evidence of Mr Modi’s leadership.
“A consistent facet of Mr Modi’s leadership style is ’empathy’ for common people and this increases the chances of success.
“This process enables him to listen to feedback from the grassroots and accordingly select the right policies,” he said.
Also, Sanjay Srivastava, President of Overseas Friends of Bharatiya Janata Party (OFBJP) Nigeria, said using Indian development as a role model for other developing countries would go a long way in global overall development.
He said Mr Modi’s bold and brave leadership styles had transformed India in diverse ways.
According to him, India has become one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, with record-breaking growth rates and unprecedented job creation.
Mr Srivastava noted that Mr Modi’s government had successfully brought about unprecedented unity in India, particularly, among non-resident Indians (NRI) worldwide, commending his diligent efforts and accomplishments.
“As India strives to become the world’s third-largest economy, Indian businesses, entrepreneurs, and NRIs should wholeheartedly commit themselves to the goal of VikshitBharat, signifying India’s development in this Amritkaal, the golden era of Bharat,” he said.
