INEC declares Gov Bala Mohammed winner of Bauchi guber election

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi has been elected in the March 18 election in the state.
Mr Mohammed, a former Abuja minister who was elected governor in 2019 as a member of the People Democratic Party, received another four years after defeating his main challenger, Sadiq Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress. Mr Abubakar is the immediate-past chief of air staff.
Abdulkareem Sabo Muhammad, vice chancellor of the Federal University Dutse, announced the results at the end of the collation on Monday.
Mr Mohammed scored 525,280 to ward off an ardent challenge from Mr Abubakar, who polled 432,272.
The incumbent won in 15 local government areas of Shira, Zaki, Dambam, Tafawabalewa, Toro, Ganjuwa, Bogoro, Itas Gadau, Ningi, Jama’are, Warji, Alkaleri, Kirfi and Dass; while the APC candidate won in five local government areas of Misau, Katagum, Gamawa, Darazo and Giade local government areas.
