Ipswich Town beat QPR 3-0 to secure promotion back to Premier League

Ipswich Town beat Queens Park Rangers 3-0 to secure promotion back to England’s top flight.
In Saturday’s final fixture of the English Championship, Ipswich confirmed their place as league runners-up, finishing off an impressive campaign under Kieran McKenna.
George Hirst opened the scoring for the home side, before Jaden Philogene doubled the lead just six minutes later to put Ipswich firmly in control.
After the break, Philogene and Hirst came close to adding, but it was Kasey McAteer who sealed the victory late on, coming off the bench to make it three.
The crucial win ensured Ipswich finished second and confirmed their return to England’s top tier alongside leaders Coventry City.
Elsewhere, Millwall’s 2–0 victory over Oxford United secured their place in the playoffs, where they will face Hull City.
Middlesbrough also progressed to the playoffs despite a 2–2 draw with Wrexham, finishing fifth in the table.
Wrexham, meanwhile, narrowly missed out on a playoff spot despite their remarkable run of three consecutive promotions.
Middlesbrough will now take on Southampton, which finished fourth after a 3–1 win away at Preston North End.
