Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says diplomacy with the United States remains possible if Washington abandons pressure and respects Iran’s rights.

Mr Araghchi made the remarks on Friday in a post on X, saying diplomatic efforts could resume if the U.S. changed its approach.

“The U.S. should build trust, speak respectfully, acknowledge our rights, and uphold commitments,” he said.

He said returning diplomacy to the right track was possible but stressed that “pressure doesn’t work.”

The comments came amid renewed diplomatic efforts by regional countries, about six months after the outbreak of the Iran war.

Pakistan’s army chief Asim Munir visited Tehran on Monday, followed by Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi on Tuesday.

On Thursday, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani also met with Araghchi in Tehran.

Iranian media reported that the talks with Oman focused largely on reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran is reportedly seeking U.S. concessions agreed upon under a framework deal reached in June in exchange for reopening the strategic waterway.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump is seeking to pressure Tehran through sweeping sanctions targeting Iran’s economic ties with other countries.
