The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a Shiite militia group, announced on Thursday that it carried out a drone attack on a power plant in Haifa, northern Israel.

The militia said in a statement that its fighters targeted Alon Tavor Power Plant of Israel in the morning to show “solidarity with the people of the Gaza Strip.’’

It pledged to continue targeting “the enemy’s strongholds.’’

The statement did not provide information about casualties.

Israeli authorities have yet to comment on the reported attack.

Since the onset of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on October 7, 2023, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has conducted numerous attacks on Israeli and U.S. targets.

The group has shown support for Palestinians in Gaza.
