Ireland-based Nigerian man who claimed mistaken identity deported to Nigeria
A Nigerian national based in Ireland, Sam Okwuoha, has been deported to Nigeria after convicted for threatening to commit murder.
The Peoples Gazette earlier reported that the 28-year-old attempted to obstruct his deportation.
The suspect who resisted his removal at Dublin airport was convicted in Scotland for threatening to commit murder.
Mr Okwuoha was accused by Irish authorities of resisting deportation after the suspect said he was one of 10 identical brothers.
He stated that Irish police confused him with one of his siblings.
During court proceedings, he also claimed that he swapped with one of his brothers before coming to Ireland.
The Gazette’s report noted that Mr Okwuoha was brought before Dublin District Court on March, following an investigation by the Garda National Immigration Bureau.
On August 8, at least six unnamed Nigerians with a total of 35 criminal convictions were deported to Nigeria by the Irish authorities.
