Israel announces assassination of Iran’s leaders Ali Larijani, Gholamreza Soleimani

Israel’s defence minister, Israel Katz, announced the assassination of Iran’s top security chief, Ali Larijani, on Tuesday.
Mr Larijani was the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council until his death.
The Israel Defence Force also announced that Gholamreza Soleimani, the commander of the Basij unit (the internal security paramilitary militia of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps), had been killed.
“Yesterday, the IDF targeted and eliminated Gholamreza Soleimani, who operated as commander of the Basij unit for the past 6 years,” the IDF said in a statement on X on Tuesday. “Under Soleimani, the Basij unit led the main repression operations in Iran, employing severe violence, widespread arrests, and the use of force against civilian demonstrators.”
The Iranian government has not confirmed the killing of the two top regime officials announced by Israel.
On February 28, Operation Epic Fury was launched by the U.S. and Israel against Iran, killing supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and 40 other top officials.
