Jacobson Nbina has resigned as the Rivers State commissioner for transportation and member of the state executive committee as the crisis continues to rock Governor Siminalayi Fubara-led administration.

In a letter dated 15th May, 2024 seen by Peoples Gazette that was addressed to the office of Rivers state governor, Mr Nbina thanked Mr Fubara for the opportunity to ‘dutifully’ and ‘meritoriously’ serve in his administration.

“I write to formally tender my resignation as Honourable Commissioner for Transport and member Rivers State Executive council with effect from 15th, May 2024,” the letter read.

“It has been a privilege to serve in this capacity and I thank Your Excellency for the opportunity to serve our State which I served dutifully and meritoriously,” Mr Nbina noted in his letter to the governor.

Speaking further, Mr Nbina said his decision to resign was due to the volatile political situation in Rivers State which has led to lack of confidence in the current administration as the loyalists of Mr Fubara and former governor Nyesom Wike embark on continuous show of power.

“My decision to resign is due to the unresolved political crisis in our dear State leading to lack of trust and apathy,” Mr Nbina, who is a loyal to the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Wike, said in the letter.

Mr Nbina joined another Mr Wike’s loyalist Inime Aguma, who served as the state’s commissioner for social welfare, as the latest commissioners to resign from their positions with the current Rivers state government on the same day.
