Japa: Canada increases permanent resident application fees for Nigerians, others

Canadian authorities have announced an increase in permanent resident application fees for Nigerians and other foreign nationals.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, in a statement on X on Monday, announced that: “Starting April 30, 2026, fees for permanent resident applications will increase as part of a routine update.”
The IRCC said: “Applications received on or after April 30 will be subject to the new fees.”
On its website, the IRCC listed the revised fees for principal applicants based on programmes.
According to IRCC, the Right of Permanent Residence Fee will increase by $25 from $575 to $600, while the Provincial Nominee Program will increase by $40 from $950 to $990.
It added that: “Business – increase by $85 from $1,810 to $1,895, Family class – increase by $25 from $545 to $570, while Protected persons – increase by $25 from $635 to $660.”
It further stated that those under Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds or public policy measures will see an increase of $25 from $635 to $660, while permit holders will pay $15 more, rising from $375 to $390.
“Under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, permanent residence fees are adjusted every two years to offset the cost of running the program and respond to growing demand,” the IRCC stated.
