Japa: Wife to divorce husband for failing to visit her in Nigeria
A housewife, Augustina Chinenyenwa, on Wednesday asked the Upper Customary Court, Daura Road, Kaduna, to dissolve her three-year-old marriage to Oluwasegun James on the grounds of abandonment.
Ms Chinenyenwa, through her counsel, Murtala Gyallesu, told the court that Mr James relocated to Ireland to look for work two years ago and had refused to visit her.
”He has failed to keep his promise of coming home to visit me,” she said.
The defendant was not in court and did not send any representative.
The court registrar said she had tried to call the defendant, but he did not answer. The complainant’s counsel applied for substituted service via WhatsApp.
The judge, Patience Musa, granted the application and adjourned the matter until February 18 for mention.
