Japan-based firm, Kawasho Foods, has donated educational materials to 10 public primary schools in Oyo state.

The donation included 11,000 exercise books, 360 desks and benches, and 150 cartons of Geisha mackerel products.

During the presentation on Wednesday in Ibadan, Kawasho’s Africa representative, Murata Kotaro, said the donation aligns with the firm’s corporate social responsibility.

He noted that since 2011, the company has supported education in 15 Nigerian states as a way of appreciating its loyal consumers.

The executive chairman of Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), Nureni Adeniran, praised the organisation for its contribution, which he said would complement the state’s efforts to provide quality education.

He added that the new furniture would improve students’ posture and comfort, while the exercise books would help indigent students with their studies.

Mr Adeniran encouraged other multinational companies to follow this example in supporting the future of Nigerian children and assured Kawasho Foods that the donated items would be well utilised.

The materials were distributed to schools across Oyo’s three senatorial districts.
