American singer and actress, Jennifer Lopez, is officially engaged to actor Ben Affleck, 18 years after the end of their failed engagement in early 2004.

JLo, as she is fondly called, announced their engagement on Friday in a short video via her fan newsletter called ‘On The JLo.’

The 52-year-old mother of two was seen holding back her tears in the video,  as she showed off her stunning green ring, saying, “You’re perfect.”

The couple who made headlines when Affleck proposed with a 6.1- carat pink diamond by Harry Winston in 2002, first moved their wedding date, three days to tying the knot in September 2003, due to excessive media attention.

“When we found ourselves seriously contemplating hiring three separate ‘decoy brides’ at three different locations, we realised that something was awry,” the couple had shared in a joint statement.

The engagement was eventually called off by the ‘Maid in Manhattan’ star  in January 2004, who then went on to marry Latin American singer Marc Anthony in June 2004, while Affeck married American actress and “Daredevil” co-star Jennifer Garner in 2005.

The two who remained friends throughout the years reconnected and communicated via email while JLo was still engaged to former baseball star Alex Rodriguez who at the time had been rumoured to have cheated on the star.

In April 30, 2021, Affleck could be seen going back and forth from the singer’s Angeles apartment, which initially sparked speculations on the couple rekindling their romance.
