Jigawa assembly passes N901 billion 2026 budget

The Jigawa House of Assembly has passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill of N901. 84 billion for state government services, with some amendments.
The passage of the bill on Tuesday followed the adoption of the report of the House Standing Committee on Appropriation at plenary presided over by the Speaker, Haruna Aliyu, in Dutse.
Presenting the report, the chairman of the committee, Ibrahim Hamza, said House standing committees had earlier engaged all ministries, departments and agencies on assessment and defence of their respective budget estimates.
Mr Hamza said the committee was satisfied with the allocation for infrastructure and social amenities for the people in the 2026 fiscal year.
The assembly also passed N288.848 billion for the services of the state’s 27 local government councils.
Mr Hamza called on the Ministry for Local Government to ensure that council chairpersons implement their respective budgets for the well-being of the rural populace.
Governor Umar Namadi had on November 25, presented a budget of N901.84 billion to the Assembly for consideration and approval.
