The Guri Local Government Council of Jigawa has expended N820,000 on renovation of abattoir to boost production of hygienic meat in the area.

This is contained in a statement by Fahad Muhammad, the information officer to the council, on Saturday in Dutse.

Mr Muhammad said the project was designed to enhance operations of the abattoir and improve public health.

He said the chairman of the council, Abubakar Umar Danbarde, handed over the facility to the Guri Butchers’ Association.

Mr Dabarde was quoted as saying that the gesture aimed at ensuring the processing of wholesome meat for human consumption.

Also, Danladi Gagiya, the head of the abattoir, lauded the gesture, and pledged to ensure effective utilisation of the facility.
