Jigawa LG establishes morality enforcement committee

Maigatari Local Government Area in Jigawa State has set up a committee to promote morality among its residents.
Sulaiman Daudu, the spokesperson for the local government, announced the committee’s formation in a statement on Sunday in Dutse, the state capital.
Mr Daudu quoted Usman Na-Allah, the council chairman, saying, “The committee aims to improve morality within Maigatari’s community, especially crucial for a border town like ours.
“The committee’s objectives include educating the public about social vices and their negative impacts.
“Eradicating immoral activities throughout the society and introducing programmes to empower and positively engage youths.”
Mr Na-Allah urged the area’s youths to be law-abiding and of good character, warning them against drug abuse.
He assured residents that strict measures would be taken against immorality and lawbreaking.
The committee’s chairman, Bashari Muhammad, pledged to work diligently to achieve the desired objectives.
The committee members include Abdullahi Kamaye, vice chairman; Abba Sale, secretary; Abdulhafiz Sa’id Abdullahi, assistant secretary; and Abdulaziz Yawale, treasurer.
Maigatari is a significant town in Jigawa State, known for its large market and strategic location along the Niger-Nigeria border.
