The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has condemned the recent attack on Kasuwar Daji market in Niger, resulting in dozens being killed.

The condemnation was noted in a statement by the JNI secretary-general, Khalid  Aliyu, on Thursday.

“JNI, under the leadership of Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, expresses its deep condemnation of the recent tragic events at Kasuwar Daji market that resulted in the brutal murder of innocent civilians.

“We sympathise with the government and people of Niger and urge the government to take concrete actions to address insecurity.

“The JNI calls for prompt identification with the victims, national broadcast to dissuade reprisals, prosecution of negligent officials, and collaboration with the security agencies to end security threats,” stated the group.

According to the statement, JNI urged the government to take immediate, tangible action.

“Government officials should visit the affected areas to show solidarity with the victims and the communities in mourning,” it said. “Following such visits, a national address is necessary to defuse public anger and discourage retaliatory attacks.”

The JNI also called for the prosecution of any officials who were negligent in their duties to serve as a deterrent against complacency within the public service.

Additionally, it asked security agencies to devise a comprehensive plan to address all threats to national security and tackle the proliferation of small arms and light weapons.

The group said Immediate assistance must be given to all the affected communities, acknowledging the plight of the IDPs and the social challenges they face.

“We urge the Muslim ummah to intensify prayers for divine intervention to end these tragic cycles of violence. Our heartfelt condolences go to the families of all the victims of the Kasuwar Daji massacre and similar occurrences across Nigeria.

“May Allah provide comfort to those who grieve, grant healing to the injured, and guide our leaders to fulfill their responsibilities with integrity,” JNI stated.
