The Area Court in Jos on Friday sentenced Nangwan Timzim and Bitrus Mavern, to one month in prison each for stealing a phone worth N160,000.

The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convicts after they pleaded guilty to the offence.

The judge, however, gave the convicts the option of a N20,000 fine or one-month imprisonment each for theft.

He asked them to pay a compensation of N80,000 each or three months in default to the complainant.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Ijuptil Daniel, told the court that the case was reported at the Anglo Jos police station on January 9 by Jimnang Kuruap.

The accused persons trespassed on the complainant’s shop and stole his Techno Spark 30 worth N160,000.
