American rapper DMX is dead
American rapper Earl Simmons popularly known as DMX has been pronounced dead after he suffered a heart attack.
He was 50.
The popular American rapper has been hospitalised and placed on life support since April 2, in a vegetative state.
“We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50 years old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days,” his family mentioned in a statement.
Although his family and friends are yet to confirm the cause of the rapper’s death, medical sources claim that his heart attack was as a result of drug abuse.
The rapper struggled with drug addiction and has been in and out of rehabilitation centers for the past five years.
