Bandits abduct Bethel Baptist High School students

Bandits have kidnapped an unspecified number of Bethel Baptist High School students in Damishi town of Chikun local government area in Kaduna.

Bandits have kidnapped an unspecified number of Bethel Baptist High School students in Damishi town of Chikun local government area in Kaduna.

The bandits invaded the school at about 2:00 a.m.

The spokesman for the police command in Kaduna, Mohammed Jalije, who confirmed the incident, said security agents had rescued 17 of the students.

He explained that the police had not ascertained the exact number of students abducted by the bandits confirmed, adding that details would be made public in due course.

Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna, John Hayab, said that there were 180 boarding students in the school as of Friday.

Mr Hayab, a Baptist Church member, further stated that 26 students had returned so far, expressing hope that more would escape from the bandits.
