Globally, more than 93.5million cases of coronavirus have been recorded, 66.8million persons have recovered from the deadly virus, while over 2million persons have been killed by the virus, Worldometer reported on Friday.

Since the pandemic broke out in 2019 in China, it has spread across 218 countries, disrupting social, political and economic life around the world, causing outrightly cancellation or postponement major sports, entertainment and political events around the world.

The first wave of coronavirus compelled a global lockdown that saw countries shutting their land, sea and air borders to curtail the spread of the virus.

The second wave of the deadly virus comes with a mutated, deadlier variant that has forced countries like UK, France to embarked on a second lockdown as the deadly virus ravages the world.

Than any other country in the world, the United States of America has recorded more cases and deaths due to coronavirus pandemic. Over 23.8million cases and over 397,000 coronavirus deaths have been recorded in the United States.

Vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Spunik V and Sinopharm have all received emergency use certification from several countries after clinical trials returned over 90 percent effectiveness in stopping the virus.

The UK first commenced vaccination early December last year. Argentina also had commenced vaccination against coronavirus late December.
