Ex-Chief Judge of Federal High Court Kafarati is dead

Mr. Kafarati, 66, a onetime attorney-general of Bauchi died of cardiac arrest.

Justice Abdul Kafarati, the immediate past Chief Judge of the Federal High Court is dead.

Mr. Kafarati, 66, a onetime attorney-general of Bauchi died of cardiac arrest after having Magrib prayer in Abuja on Thursday night.

Born July 25, 1954 at Kwami, Gombe State, he was appointed to the Federal High Court Bench on October 31 1991.

In September 2017, Mr. Kafarati  was appointed as the acting chief judge of the Federal High and was confirmed as the substantive chief judge on June 17, 2018.

He retired from the Federal High Court on July 25, 2019.

Confirming his death in a statement on  Friday, Justice John Tosho, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, described late Karafati as calm courageous and humble.

“With great sadness, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Honorable Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, regrets to announce the sudden death of the former Chief Judge of this Honourable Court, Honorable Justice Adamu Abdul Kafarati who passed on last night at about 7.30 p.m being, February 25, 2021, after his usual evening Magrib prayer in Abuja,” the statement by Nwandu read.

“The late Justice died of Cardiac arrest,” a statement from the Federal High Court read.

Mr. Kafarati  will be buried in Abuja according to Islamic rites.
