FG declares public holidays for Christmas and New Year celebrations

Interior minister urged Nigerians to adhere to COVID-19 safety guidelines while they celebrate.

The federal government has declared December 25, 28 and January 1, 2021 as public holidays for Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Interior minister Rauf Aregbesola made the announcement via a statement signed by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Shuaib Belgore, on Wednesday.

Mr. Aregbesola urged Nigerians to adhere to COVID-19 safety guidelines while they celebrate.

“Nigerians and Christians in particular, adhere strictly to the Covid-19 protocols and guidelines, as stipulated by relevant authorities, during and after the yuletide, especially with the second wave of the outbreak of the disease,” Mr. Aregbesola said.
