The Niger state government has announced a ban on June 12 protest and all forms of processions across the state.

Ahmed Matane, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), who announced this in a statement in Minna, stated that the ban was with immediate effect on Saturday.

Mr Matane said, “The decision to ban all forms of processions was as a result of the security situation in the state.”

He added that the government had directed security agencies to ensure enforcement and deal with any person, group, organisation, or individuals that violated the order.

Mr Matane advised the public across the state to adhere strictly to the directive by being law-abiding and live peacefully with one another.
