Tinubu asks judge to block Labour, PDP from stopping presidential election collation, declaration by INEC

Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress has asked a federal judge to block the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party from preventing the ongoing collation of results of last Saturday’s presidential election.
Mr Tinubu, in a suit filed in Kano, said the development came after the Labour and PDP sought to end the exercise on the basis of allegations of irregularities, according to Daily Trust.
The paper said the suit was filed under reference HC/KN/CS/43/2023 before the Kano Division of the Federal High Court, seeking urgent relief to ensure that the election collation and declaration continue unhindered.
Spokespersons for Labour and PDP did not immediately return requests seeking comments about the suit.
Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of INEC, has continued counting results from across the country, with the final outcome expected to be announced soon.
But opposition political parties have intensified pressure on the electoral chief, asking him to immediately cancel the exercise and turn in his resignation over the controversial manner he handled the election and transmission of results.
