Tottenham sack Mourinho
Jose Mourinho, former Chelsea and Manchester United coach, has reportedly been dismissed as Tottenham Hotspurs manager.
The Club confirmed news of his dismissal in a statement on its website.
“The Club can today announce that Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra have been relieved of their duties,” the statement by Chairman Daniel Levy read.
This news comes after reports that the North London side were compiling list of possible managers in the event of Jose Mourinho’s ouster.
Mourinho has faced pressure as Spurs flailed all season long with mixed results. The team ranks seventh on the Premier League table, five points off the top four.
Mourinho had been with Spurs since November 2019, after he replaced Mauricio Pochettino, signing a deal until the end of the 2023 season. However, his continuance at Tottenham was dependent on if he was able to lead the team into the top four.
Tottenham faces off Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final next weekend, and if they win will clinch their first trophy since 2008.
