Kaduna communities alerted as NDA conducts firing exercise

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) on Sunday announced plans to conduct a range classification exercise for cadets of Short Service Course 49 (Army).
The exercise is scheduled to take place from March 30 to 31 at the NDA Open Range in Afaka, Kaduna, and will include night firing drills, the academy’s spokesperson, Maj. Ruben Kovangiya said in a statement.
Mr Kovangiya assured residents of Mando, Tsamiya, Kauya, Afaka, and surrounding communities that adequate safety measures had been put in place to ensure a secure and successful exercise.
He, however, advised members of the public to avoid trespassing or moving within the designated exercise areas throughout the duration of the operation.
“The general public is urged to comply with this directive in the interest of their safety,” he said.
The academy’s spokesperson also appealed to media organisations and community leaders to help disseminate the information widely to ensure public awareness and cooperation.
The statement said the commandant of the academy, Maj.-Gen. Olufemi Olatoye, expressed appreciation for the continued support and understanding of the public.
