The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, has urged women to leverage their numerical strength and high voter turnout to support leaders with clear development-oriented agendas to drive grassroot mobilisation.

Ms Balarabe made the call on Friday while speaking as Mother of the Day at the inauguration of the state, local government and ward structures of the Arewa Women for Tinubu/Uba Sani Door-to-Door Campaign, held at Arewa House, Kaduna.

She said women continued to play critical roles in community organisation, persuasion and voter mobilisation across the country.

According to her, women consistently record some of the highest voter turnout figures during elections and should therefore use their collective influence to elect leaders committed to development programmes and policies.

The deputy governor cited President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor, Sen. Uba Sani, as examples of leaders demonstrating commitment to people-oriented governance.

Mr Balarabe also commended the group’s door-to-door mobilisation strategy, describing it as an effective grassroots engagement approach capable of directly communicating government achievements to the people.

She further praised the National Coordinator of the campaign group, Sa’adattu Dogon-Bauchi, for her dedication and leadership.

Earlier, Mr Dogon-Bauchi, who is also a National Commissioner with the National Population Commission (NPC), said the gathering marked the beginning of a renewed movement driven by commitment, unity and determination ahead of the 2027 general elections.

She said the campaign structure inaugurated at the state, local government and ward levels would ensure direct engagement with communities and households across Kaduna State.

“We are not only inaugurating the Arewa Women for Tinubu/Uba Sani Door-to-Door Campaign, we are activating a structure that will reach every home, every street and every community across our state,” she said.

Ms Dogon-Bauchi commended members of the group for their loyalty and contributions since 2023, noting that the movement was building on existing achievements.

She lauded Mr Tinubu for taking bold economic decisions aimed at stabilising the nation’s economy, improving government revenue and increasing allocations to states and local governments.

According to her, ongoing infrastructure projects and empowerment programmes are already creating opportunities for youths and women across the country.

She also praised Governor Uba Sani for what she described as people-centred governance in Kaduna State, particularly in the areas of peace building, infrastructure and social support programmes.

Ms Dogon-Bauchi urged members and coordinators of the support group to intensify grassroots mobilisation and sustain engagement with communities ahead of the 2027 polls.

She stressed the need for unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying collective commitment and cooperation remained essential for electoral success.

Also speaking, Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, represented by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id, described Ms Dogon-Bauchi as a strong voice for women in politics.

He urged women to continue demonstrating commitment, integrity and their mobilisation capacity as political activities gather momentum ahead of future elections.

According to him, women remain the backbone of every political movement because of their strong community connections and ability to effectively spread campaign messages at the grassroots.
