Kaduna hajj agency boss says exercise not for pleasure

Mr Abubakar said the training sought to guide the pilgrims on the hajj rites according to provisions of the Sharia.

• February 14, 2024

The Executive Chairman of Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency,  Salihu Abubakar, has said hajj is not a pleasure trip, but in pursuit of rewards from God.

Mr Abubakar made the call at a train- the-trainer meeting to kick start the pilgrims’ weekly enlightenment programme for the 2024 hajj on Tuesday in Kaduna.

He urged prospective pilgrims to prepare to accommodate whatever unintended or unavoidable difficulties they may go through during the exercise.

Mr Abubakar said the meeting was annually organised to train those who would train the prospective pilgrims.

He added that the training was aimed at guiding the pilgrims to conduct the hajj rites according to provisions of the Sharia.

Mr Abubakar equally said it was aimed at guiding the pilgrims on the procedures of how they should move from Nigeria to Jeddah, Mecca to Madina and other places.

He said, “This is one of the most important exercises we conduct at the agency.’’

Mr Abubakar called on the trainees to be serious and step down the knowledge to the pilgrims for guidance.

Earlier, the facilitator of the training, Prof. Yahaya Mujahid, said the trainers would be trained on the general aspects of the entire hajj.

He said, “The exercise begins right from home, to the camp, moving to Mecca, to Madina and to the expected places a pilgrim must attend.”

Mr Mujahid equally said they enlightened the pilgrims on how to perform the hajj rites successfully to bring respect and dignity to the state and Nigeria at large.
