Kaduna hosts 210 golfers for FirstBank tourney

Two hundred and ten golfers are set to compete in the third edition of the FirstBank Golf Tournament at the Kaduna Golf Club.
Idris Ibrahim, the group executive of Retail Banking North, disclosed this during a press conference at the Kaduna Golf Club.
Mr Ibrahim said FirstBank had been a proud sponsor of golf in the country for over 60 years. He said the bank had been partnering with the Kaduna Golf Tournament since 2023 to bring the delightful game to the Kaduna Golfing Community.
Mr Ibrahim said that for over 130 years, they had remained committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen communities and foster lasting relationships.
“Our sponsorship of this tournament reflects these values and reinforces our dedication to community engagement across Kaduna State and the wider Northern region,” he said. “The game of golf is inspired by skill, integrity, focus, resilience, and respect; qualities that we uphold at FirstBank, and we are pleased to see them thrive in this tournament over the years.”
According to him, FirstBank is proud of the platform the tournament provides for both professional golfers and amateurs, and trusts that the exposure will lead to growth opportunities, mentorship, and international recognition for the golfers.
He commended the Kaduna Golf Club for its dedication and commitment to organising the third edition of the Kaduna Golf tournament.
Also speaking, Nazifi Jibril, captain of the Kaduna Golf Club, said the tournament would feature various categories, including the Men’s category, the Ladies category, the Veteran Ladies category, the Super Veterans category, and the overall tournament winner.
He said the tournament was initially scheduled for last year but could not be held due to unforeseen circumstances.
Mr Jibril said the tournament would commence with a ceremonial tee-off, jointly performed by representatives of FirstBank and Kaduna Golf Club.
He commended FirstBank PLC for its significant financial commitment to the event, adding that the gesture demonstrated the bank’s dedication to promoting sports and its continued investment in golf development.
The captain added that the Kaduna Golf Club would reciprocate the gesture by supporting the Bank, especially by patronising its services, subscribing to its products, and strengthening its relationship with the bank.
