Ali Kalat, a member representing Jema’a Constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, has declared his intention to seek a third term in office, pledging improved, people-oriented representation.

Mr Kalat made the declaration in Kafanchan, headquarters of Jema’a Local Government Area.

He noted that he remained committed to delivering more development projects, creating opportunities and improving the welfare of his constituents.

“I remain resolute in my mission to deliver more development, create more opportunities and serve my people. Every achievement recorded is a step toward building a stronger and more prosperous Jema’a Constituency,” he said.

The lawmaker said his journey in public service had been marked by dedication, sacrifice and commitment to the progress of the constituency.

According to him, maintaining close contact with the people has enabled him to respond effectively to their needs and ensure inclusive leadership.

“I regularly visit communities, attend social and cultural events and engage directly with the people to understand their concerns.

“This close relationship allows me to ensure that my leadership remains people-driven and inclusive,” he said.

Mr Kalat said youth empowerment and human capital development remained among his top priorities, stressing that the future of the constituency depended on productive, self-reliant youth.

He said he had invested in vocational training, skills acquisition programmes and financial support schemes to empower young people.

“My focus is not just on temporary relief, but on long-term empowerment that builds confidence and independence,” he said.

The lawmaker also said he had supported initiatives to empower women economically and socially, including backing small-scale businesses and increasing participation in community development.

Mr Kalat further said he had continued to provide purposeful representation through legislative engagements, debates, motions and committee activities at the state assembly.

“To me, representation is not just about occupying a seat; it is about making the seat count for the people,” he said.

He added that one of his major priorities had been to bring development closer to the grassroots through infrastructure and community development projects

Mr Kalat pledged to continue providing leadership that would touch lives, restore hope and create opportunities for all if re-elected in 2027.

In their separate remarks, Senator Sunday Katung (APC-Kaduna South), represented by his wife, Abigail Katung, and Amos Samaila, APC chairman for Jema’a Local Government Area, commended Kalat’s contribution to the constituency.

They appealed to party delegates and residents to support the lawmaker during the forthcoming APC primaries, adding that continuity would enable him to consolidate on the gains already recorded.

The highlight of the event was the inauguration of the lawmaker’s campaign council.
