The head of the Department of Fashion Design and Clothing Technology, Kaduna Polytechnic, Alabi Usman, said the upcoming 2026 fashion runway would boost the institution’s visibility and entrepreneurial potential.

Mr Usman, who disclosed in a statement made available on Monday in Kaduna, said the department would host the runway, fashion career fair and 10th anniversary celebration on October 24.

He said the event would be held under the theme, “Redefining Art and Craft in Nigerian Fashion,” from 9:00 a.m.

According to him, the programme would give students opportunities to demonstrate practical skills in fashion design, styling, modelling, presentation, and runway production.

He said the FAS 402 Fashion Runway Academy Exercise was a compulsory component of students’ academic assessment and would expose them to professional standards.

The HOD said the event would also feature a fashion career fair and fashion marketplace to connect students with fashion practitioners, employers, entrepreneurs and alumni.

He said the platform would expose students to career, internship, mentorship and entrepreneurial opportunities while strengthening the relationship between fashion education and the industry.

“The programme would also feature a 10th anniversary historical exhibition showcasing the department’s journey, achievements and development since becoming an autonomous department.

“Also, the participation of external assessors, fashion practitioners and entrepreneurs would promote entrepreneurship, innovation, cultural preservation and industry engagement,” he said.

He explained that the event was expected to attract prospective students, increase enrollment, and create opportunities for partnerships and revenue generation for the institution.

He urged fashion industry stakeholders, employers, entrepreneurs, alumni, prospective students, media organisations, members of the Kaduna Polytechnic community and the general public to attend.
