Kaduna recorded 50 fire incidents, two deaths in three months: Official

The Kaduna State Fire Service and Public Safety recorded 50 fire outbreaks and saved properties worth N1.1 billion between September and November 2025.
The agency’s director, Paul Aboi, who disclosed this in an interview with journalists on Friday in Kaduna, said the fire incidents were recorded across the Kaduna, Zaria, and Kafanchan zones.
Mr Aboi said the service recorded 50 fire outbreaks within the three-month period, which resulted in two deaths, 19 injuries, and seven rescue operations.
He added that property valued at N1.1 billion was saved, while losses amounted to N2.7 billion, following major incidents in densely populated communities, residential areas, and business locations.
According to him, most of the fire outbreaks were traced to electrical faults, careless handling of fire, and poor storage of flammable materials, stressing that the service responded promptly to reduce casualties and damage.
Mr Aboi said the agency had intensified public enlightenment, strengthened rapid response units, and expanded community sensitisation to curb fire incidents, especially during the harmattan season.
