Kaduna: Red Cross trains 20 volunteers in first aid skills

The Nigeria Red Cross Society has started competence-based first aid training for 20 new members from the Kaduna North Local Government Area of the state.
The state’s branch secretary, Muhammad Aliyu-Aminu, said in Kaduna on Monday that the two-day training was a significant step in enhancing its emergency response capacity.
He said the training would be facilitated by the branch disaster management officer and the branch training officer.
Mr Aliyu-Aminu emphasised the importance of this induction method for new members, stating that it would enhance their ability to respond to emergencies and provide humanitarian services to communities.
“Employees trained in first aid will understand the steps to take during an emergency, thanks to increased confidence and preparation. A quick response can reduce recovery time, leading to less time lost from injuries.
“By making first aid training available to volunteers, they can show their workforce that they care about providing a safe work environment,” Mr Aliyu-Aminu said.
He added that the training was part of the Kaduna North division’s commitment to building the capacity of its members to respond to emergencies and promote humanitarian values in the community.
According to him, the Kaduna branch is ready to conduct certificated training in basic, advanced and professional first aid to corporate organisations and individuals making such requests.
The participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to acquire critical first aid skills, which will enable them to provide effective support during emergencies.
