Kaduna-South lawmaker, Katung, donates food items, N11 million to orphans, widows

The lawmaker representing Kaduna South on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Sunday Katung, has donated food items and N11 million to some orphans and widows in his constituency.
The food items were donated separately at the Rafiki Orphanage Home, the ECWA widows’ training school in the Zangon Kataf Local Government Area and the Gweimen Centre in Jaba Local Government Area.
Mr Katung donated the items as part of activities marking his birthday and his mother’s.
Presenting the items at the three locations, Mr Katung explained that the gesture was borne out of his desire to assist vulnerable members of society.
Represented by a member representing Jema’a constituency at the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Ali Kalat, the senator said that giving to the less-privileged on his birthday has been a yearly act he intends to sustain.
The Chairman of the distribution committee, Gideon Gwani, said the items included 25 bags of rice, indomie, semolina and spaghetti.
Mr Gwani stated that the distribution of the items was part of the lawmaker’s effort to promote unity, love and kindness in his constituency.
In their separate remarks, Rev. Yunusa Madu, a former ECWA General Secretary, Rev. Yunusa Madu and the Chairman, Jama’atu Nasril Islam, Jema’a LGA, Alhassan Garba, lauded the lawmaker for his humanitarian assistance.
According to them, orphans and widows were children of God “if one helps them, one is crediting one’s personal account and making deposit with one’s maker.”
Also speaking, the state PDP Chairman, Edward Masha, said that the lawmaker had enhanced the party’s image in the zone through his philanthropic activities.
Mr Masha called on other well-meaning individuals to emulate the lawmaker in coming to the aid of the downtrodden.
On their part, Head of the Rafiki Orphanage Home, Cornelius Samuel, Head, ECWA Widows Training School, Sarah Bature and Head, Gweimen Centre, Dr. Felicia Kegang, applauded Mr Katung for his act of kindness.
One of the beneficiaries, Amina Musa, thanked Mr Katung for his continued support and urged him to sustain his invaluable gestures.
