Kano anti-graft agency tasks LG officials on financial accountability

The state anti-graft commission, established in 2005, has received over 6,350 complaints and recovered over N235 million.

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has urged local government officials to strictly adhere to financial guidelines in their affairs.

PCACC chairman Muhuyi Magaji made the call on Saturday at a three-day workshop in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, Kano.

The workshop theme is: “Intense Capacity Building for All Stakeholders.”

The workshop aims to equip local government chairs and officials with the necessary knowledge and skills to handle administration issues.

Mr Magaji emphasised the importance of the workshop in addressing corruption and promoting effective service delivery.

He encouraged participants to ask questions and enhance their understanding of local government administration.

Ibrahim Shazali, the zonal commander of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), urged local government officials to ensure financial accountability.

He said the commission was critical in the fight against corruption and moving the country forward.

Tajo Mohammad, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, said the workshop aims to educate local government chairs and officials on effective administration.

The workshop was attended by chairmen, secretaries, treasurers, and councillors from the 44 local government councils in the state.
