Kano Assembly hikes 2023 budget by N23 billion

The Kano State House of Assembly has passed the state’s 2023 Appropriation Bill of N268 billion, increasing it by 23 billion.
The passage of the budget followed the adoption of a report presented by the Chairman, House Standing Committee on Appropriation, Abba Garko, on Thursday.
Governor Abudullahi Ganduje had on November 4 presented a N245 billion budget proposal for the House’s consideration.
Mr Garko said the committee recommended an increase of over N23 billion to ensure effective delivery of government services for the benefit of the general public in the state.
At the plenary session, presided over by the Speaker, Hamisu Chidari, the lawmakers, after deliberations on the report of the appropriation committee, adopted the report and passed the budget into law.
The Assembly, after passing the bill into law, adjourned its plenary session to January 16, 2023.
