Kano: Dambatta LG sponsors 120 youths for health-related training
The Dambatta council area in Kano says it has sponsored more than 120 youths for health-related training. It has also engaged over 50 temporary health workers to strengthen primary healthcare services in the area.
The council chairman, Jamilu Abubakar, disclosed this when the executive secretary of the Kano State Primary Healthcare Management Board, Salisu Ahmad-Ibrahim, paid him a working visit on Thursday.
Mr Abubakar said the initiative was part of efforts by his administration to provide adequate health personnel in primary healthcare facilities across the local government area.
He said the council had also renovated several health facilities as part of a commitment to improving healthcare delivery.
The chairman said the council would continue to support healthcare workers and provide the necessary facilities to enable them to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
He commended the PHCMB executive secretary for the visit, saying such engagements would boost the morale of health workers and strengthen primary healthcare services in the area.
The executive secretary said the team visited the area to assess health workers’ performance, identify their challenges, and explore ways to address them.
He said the visit would also enable the board to assess healthcare projects implemented or being implemented by the local government, particularly those aimed at improving primary healthcare services.
Mr Ahmad-Ibrahim commended the council for supporting immunisation programmes, renovating health facilities, constructing primary healthcare centres, and providing land for the development of additional health facilities.
The head of Primary Healthcare Services in the local government, Danjuma Abdulhamid, expressed appreciation for the visit, saying the council chairman had demonstrated commitment to improving healthcare services.
The council chairman led the PHCMB delegation on an inspection tour of some healthcare facilities in the area.
The facilities visited included the newly constructed Gwarabjawa, Ajumawa and Batta Primary Healthcare Centres.
The team also inspected the new office for health workers provided by the council at the local government secretariat.
