Kano: Emirate councils amendment bill scales first reading
The Kano State Emirate Councils Amendment Bill on Tuesday scaled first reading at the House of Assembly.
This followed the majority leader, Lawan Hussaini (Dala-NNPP), adopting a motion of urgent public importance at the plenary in Kano.
Mr Hussaini said the motion was aimed at “moving the state forward.”
Shu’aibu Rabi’u (Dawakin-Kudu-NNPP) seconded the motion.
The parliament amended the bill in 2019, creating four additional emirate councils, bringing the number of first-class emirs in Kano to five.
