Kano governor-elect assures youths, women of empowerment

The governor-elect of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has assured youths and women of a better deal during his tenure.
He said his administration would reopen entrepreneurship institutes to massively create jobs for unemployed youths in the state.
Mr Yusuf made this known to journalists after receiving supporters who paid him Sallah homage on Monday in Kano.
The governor-elect fielded questions shortly after addressing a mammoth crowd of supporters to celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr at the Miller Road residence of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP’s) leader, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, in Kano.
Mr Yusuf explained that his incoming administration would provide modern learning materials to train youths and women in various trades.
Mr Yusuf said drug addicts and thugs would be reformed into responsible citizens through entrepreneurship, training and empowerment to become self-reliant and job providers.
“By May 29, after the inauguration and when we take the mantle of leadership, we will hit the ground running towards implementation of all campaign promises, ranging from healthcare delivery, education, water supply, agriculture, security and human development, among others.
“We have had the opportunity during the tenure of Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso to construct about 26 entrepreneurship institutes.
“We are going to take very serious measures against thuggery and drug addiction.
“We have to make sure we clean the society of the menace of drug addiction and thuggery. As far as I’m concerned, I’m going to address this issue very aggressively,” the governor-elect assured.
