Kano: Governor Yusuf employs 400 maths teachers

Governor Abba Yusuf has presented permanent and pensionable appointment letters to the 400 newly recruited mathematics teachers for secondary schools in Kano.
The recruitment was announced in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, on Wednesday.
Mr Yusuf described the recruitment as a direct response to subject gaps that have affected students’ performance and career readiness.
According to the Kano governor, mathematics is the foundation of science, technology, engineering and innovation, and that Kano must build a strong base to compete in a knowledge‑driven world.
He added that the new teachers would significantly enhance teaching quality, improve examination outcomes and strengthen pathways for students into STEM fields.
The governor commended the education ministry and the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board for conducting a transparent and effective recruitment process.
Mr Yusuf urged the new teachers to teach with passion, commitment and professionalism, stressing that they must justify the confidence placed in them.
