Kano: Governor Yusuf sacks 44 LG caretaker chairmen

Governor Abba Yusuf has sacked the caretaker chairpersons of all 44 local government areas with immediate effect.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, announced this in a statement.
The sack came a week after the state House of Assembly approved a two-month extension to their tenure, initially set to expire on September 8.
The extension, the lawmakers said, is aimed at ensuring continuity in local governance.
Local government elections are scheduled to take place on October 26.
Governor Yusuf directed the caretaker chairpersons to hand over to their respective directors of personnel management.
“This dissolution applies to all chairmen, vice-chairmen, secretaries, and councillors,” Mr Yusuf stated.
He thanked the caretaker chairmen for contributing to developing their areas and hinted at potential future collaboration.
