The Kano government has donated three operational vehicles to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to enhance its fight against substance abuse.

NDLEA’s spokesman in Kano, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, disclosed this in a statement on Friday. He said the vehicles were presented on Thursday by the secretary to the state government, Umar Farouk-Ibrahim, on behalf of the state governor to the NDLEA commander in Kano, Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal.

Mr Farouk-Ibrahim said the donation was aimed at motivating the agency to intensify efforts to curb substance abuse.

He restated that substance abuse remained a primary enabler of various crimes and social vices in society and consequently urged sustained collaboration between the state and the agency to safeguard communities in Kano.

Mr Yahaya-Lawal thanked the Kano government and assured that the vehicles would be effectively deployed to strengthen anti-drug trafficking operations in the state.

“These vehicles will enhance our operational capacity and support more robust actions aimed at dismantling drug cartels and ensuring sustained closure of drug joints across Kano state,” he said.

He commended the Kano government, on behalf of the NDLEA chairman, Mohammed Buba-Marwa, for its continued support and collaboration.

The commander, consequently, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to continuing efforts to achieve a drug-free society.
